Food Experiences
Your culinary tour of South Africa starts at Spier, where the food we serve is responsibly grown on our farm or sourced from trusted local producers. Our abundant offering is best enjoyed poolside in summer and in the Garden Room at breakfast and lunch time. Our hotel restaurant is open for dinner, or try our Rooftop Bar for tapas-style appetisers with your sundowner. On the farm Werf, there’s even more sizzle and surprise.
Picnics At Spier
Book your picnic and collect it from our Picnickery, wander out and pick your spot on the Werf, under the trees or beside the river. Winter or summer seasonal food - including organic local fresh produce from our Food Garden - makes the Spier picnic an institution you might want to repeat - often!
Spier Art
Our farm is home to one of the largest collections of contemporary art in Southern Africa. At every indoor venue and in our gardens, you’ll see curated works by eminent local artists. Spier has an annual calendar of art exhibitions and performing arts events. Use our audio app to take yourself on a self-guided art tour.
Segway Vineyard Tours
Experience the beauty of the Cape Winelands and Cape Floral Kingdom on a Segway. Go gliding on a fun, exhilarating journey through our organic vineyards, cupped by the amphitheatre of our majestic Stellenbosch mountains. Guided Segway tours are yet another opportunity to learn about regenerative farming - explore how our working wine farm really works, every day.
Wellness Spa
Our Spier Spa is truly rooted in nature. Restore wellbeing, feel grounded and re-energise with a session in our gym or movement studio, our treatment rooms or our Cape Herbal Bath House. Our Spa uses healing South African herbs from our farm and surrounds in personalised treatments, from the latest tech luxury facials to healing massages.
Poolside Lounging
One of the largest and most enticing pools in the winelands, our family-friendly heated pool is exclusively for guests - a magical setting to lap up farm peace. Order light meals, wine and cocktails from the bar. The fresh farm air, indigenous gardens and warm, endless Stellenbosch summer days make it idyllic.
Go Cycling
Our bicycles are free to pick up for a spin around our farm and Werf pathways. Scenic mountain bike trails on Spier farm are signposted and well maintained for a safe, easy-going 10km or 20km ride past our organic vineyards, where you can see regenerative farming in action and explore our pristine, rehabilitated Renosterveld.
Kids Nature Experiences
Children love playing on our farm. Gently supervised, nature-based activities and free-play activities at The Buzz Kids Club. Kids love exploring our Elemental Play Garden and run (a little) wild on the soft lawns of the Werf at Spier. Let them play safely in nature, surrounded by trees, birds, butterflies and caring people.
Farm Walks
Running and walking in the Cape Floral Kingdom, whatever the season, is exhilarating. Our routes on Spier farm are mapped out with safe 5km or 10km paths through the vineyards, indigenous Renosterveld and our working farm. Maps are available and we highly recommend our audio app, for insight into Spier art, history and landmarks.
South African Craft
Spier has always been a committed supporter of South African contemporary art - and we love local craft! Visit our craft village on Spier farm. Shop unique metal sculptures, textiles, African carvings, beaded jewelry and more, all by our resident crafters. Watch this masterful team at work and try your hand at learning a new skill.
Explore The Cape Winelands
Spier farm is conveniently located in the heart of the winelands, making this an ideal base for short, scenic day trips to Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. Our hotel offers a complimentary daily guest shuttle into Stellenbosch town, famous for its restaurants, historic architecture, picturesque avenues and shops (subject to availability).
